Metrosept E has a significant antimicrobial action due to its ingredients, being efficient in control of bacterial and protozoa infections.
Enrofloxacin is a broad spectrum chemotherapeutic compound with antimicrobial action against even the antibiotic resistant germs. It is a fluoric derivative from the last generation of synthetic quinolones and has a significant bactericidal action against Gram positive and Gram negative germs, mycoplasma and Chlamydia.
Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against Gram positive and Gram negative germs and flagellated protozoa.
Iodoform has a high potential to penetrate the damaged tissues, providing a protective layer which favors the sterile burgeoning and healing of the wound. It showed long lasting antiseptic properties, being an efficient pain killer and healing component for uterine and vaginal mucosa.
The product is well tolerated by the genital mucosa in case of both acute and chronic conditions.
The suspension penetrates easily the affected areas, even when secretions or pseudo membranes are present.
Cow, sheep, goat, sow

The product is applied into the vagina or uterus, at the following doses:
- 30-40 ml/cow, 2-3 administrations 24 hours apart;
- 10-15 ml/sheep and goat ewes, 2-3 administrations 24 hours apart.
The external genitalia should be washed with water and soap prior to product administration.
The product is applied into the vagina or uterus using a dosing syringe foreseen with a polyethylene hose. A sterile glove should be worn when administering the product.
The official and local regulations related to antimicrobial substances should be observed when the product is used. Fluoroquinolones should be used as alternative treatment in case of low or non responsiveness to other classes of antimicrobials under clinical conditions. When possible, fluoroquinolones should be used only basing on the sensitivity tests (antibiotic sensitivity test).
Use of the product ignoring or deviating from the SPC provisions may increase the bacterial antibiotic resistance to fluoroquinolones and may decrease the effectiveness of the treatment with other quinolones due to possible cross-resistance.
