The efficacy of Amoxicolistin is based on synergistic and complementary action of two antibiotics, amoxicillin and colistin. Amoxicillin is a synthetic broad spectrum and low toxicity penicillin with strong bactericidal action against Gram negative (Actinobacillus, Bordetella, Escherichia Haemophillus, Pasteurella, Salmonella) and Gram positive bacteria (B. Anthracis, Clostridium, Actinomyces, Erysipelotrix). Amoxicillin is rapidly distributed throughout the body tissues and fluids reaching concentration peaks in lungs, liver, kidney and urine.
Colistin (from the polymixins group) is a specific antibiotic for Gram negative germs (E. Coli, Haemophillus spp., Bordetella spp. etc.).
