Solution for injection
Active substance: Caffeine 12.5 g;
Excipients (distilled water) ad 100 ml; Sodium benzoate 12.5 g
Caffeine is an alkaloid that stimulates the central nervous system, increasing the sensorial activity. It increases cardiac contraction strength, improves cardiac rhythm and causes vasoconstriction in the splanchnic area, dilatation of coronary, brain and renal vessels.
It improves the activity of the respiratory center and the diuretic activity by reducing tubular resorption.
Adult horses and cattle, sheep, goats, swine, cats and dogs
After laborious parturitions, dystocia, sapremic condition, septicemia, piemia, pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, peritonitis, infectious diseases, parasitic diseases, precollaps and collapse conditions.
In exhausted animals due to effort or in prolonged convalescence and asthenia.
Antidote in case of barbiturates or selenium poisoning.
Do not to use in animals allergic to the active substances.
Do not use in restless subjects, animals with tachycardia, convulsions and in strychnine intoxication.
Seldom restlessness or skin rush, hypertonia of striated muscles, increased diuresis may occur.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection at the following doses:
– Horses and adult cattle: 8-20 ml/day (1-2.5 g caffeine) split in several doses (not more than 5-10 ml/dose);
– Sheep, goats, swine, foals, calves: 1-5 ml/day (0.125-0.625 g caffeine) split in several doses (not more than 1-3 ml/dose);
– Cats and dogs: 1-2 ml/day (0.125-0.250 g caffeine) split in several doses (not more than 0.5-1 ml/dose).
Intravenous injection: in cases of collapse, intoxications or as diuretic in horses and adult cattle, at a dose of 10-20 ml, after previous dilution with 20-25 ml physiological saline or glucosated solution
Comply with the recommended doses.
In case of i.v. administration, inject the product very slowly.
Do not use together with alkaloids that intensify or block caffeine action.
