- Solution for injection
Active substance: Furosemide 1g
Excipient (distilled water) ad 100 ml
Furosemide is a very strong diuretic. The effect is fast after intravenous injection and lasts for 2-5 hours after inoculation. It increases the renal blood flow and diuresis, even under a reduced glomerule filtration, preventing sodium chloride reabsorption.
Cattle and horses
It is recommended in all cases of water retention in tissues: cerebral, cardiac, pulmonary edema, cirrhosis, nephrosis, chronic cardiac failure, eclampsia and ascites. It is also recommended in the urinary retention following colics caused by various foods.
Do not use in hepatic coma, decompensate cirrhosis, renal impairment through nephro- and hepatotoxic substances, in oliguria and anuria or intolerance to sulfonamides.
Administer carefully in acute glumerulonephritis, severe cardiac failure, diabetes, in combination with tonicardiac glycosides (increase of arrhythmia risk under hypokalemia conditions), sympathoplegic, hypotensives (enhances their action) and mineral corticoids (increase potassium elimination).
Long lasting treatment may cause hydro electrolytic and acid-basic misbalance manifested by: dehydration, hyperazotemia, hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia with orthostatic hypotension. Skin eruptions may occur sometimes.
Method of administration
Administer by intravenous injection. The product has a prompt and energetic action at a dose of 25-100 mg/100 kg (0.25-1 ml furosemid 1%) in horses and cattle.
Doses may be increased or even doubled depending on the ailment and animal condition.
Carry out the intravenous injection very slowly.
Do not combine with ototoxic drugs (amino glycoside antibiotics – gentamicin, neomycin and streptomycin), nephrotoxic drugs, being incompatible with alkaloids.
Furosemid may cause sodium and potassium depletion with possible severe consequences. Avoid long lasting treatment and high doses as much as possible. Dehydration and arterial hypotension require treatment cancellation and dose decrease.
Vials with 10 and 20 ml.
