GLUCOZĂ 33 %
Solution for injection
Antitoxic and trophic
Active substances: Glucose 33 g/100 ml; Sodium Chloride 0.026 g/100 ml;
Excipient (hydrochloric acid, distilled water) up to 100 ml
Glucose administered as treatment is an energizing, easily available substance acting as a hepatic trophic, enhancing the function of the sick myocardium and diuresis. The hypertonic solution injected by intravenous route results in tissue dehydration.
Horses, cattle, sheep, goats, swine, cat and dog
The apyrogenic, hypertonic and sterile aqueous solution of glucose 33% is intended for hepatic enhancement and myocardium function support in exhausted and hypoglycemic animals after some intoxications, enteropathies, ketonemia, hepatitis, myocarditis and hemorrhages.
It is also used in traumatic shock or surgical conditions, in burns and septicemia or in convalescent animals.
Use the product in dehydrated animals and for volemia increase only as isotonic solutions (5%) since the hypertonic solutions enhances dehydration.
Do not administer in renal failure and diabetes.
Fast injection of the product may cause shaking of the anchonate muscles or of the hind-quarters muscles.
Glucose 33% inoculated perivenously may cause abscess or even necroses of the adjacent tissues.
Method of administration
Inject the following daily doses of glucose 33% strictly by intravenous route (it causes necrosis by paravenous route):
- Horses and cattle: 60-400 ml, depending on body weight, for 1-2 days;
- Goats, sheep, swine: 30-120 ml, depending on body weight, for 1-2 days;
- Dog and cat: 7-30 ml, depending on body weight, for 1-2 days.
The product can be injected by subcutaneous or intraperitoneal route in goats, sheep, swine, cat and dog after a previous dilution to isotonic solution (5%) with distilled water or physiological solution.
After injecting the product, before pulling out the needle, leave a drop of blood on the needle and then quickly pull the needle out using an alcohol-soaked buffer as protection.
If Glucose 33% was accidentally injected by perivenous route, wipe the inoculation site with iodine.
Bottles with cu 20, 50 and 100 ml.
