ROMAVERMECTIN B1 1 % PLUS
Solution for injection
Trematodocide, nematodicide, acaricide, insecticide
1 ml Romavermectin B1 1% PLUS contains:
Active substances: Avermectin B1 10 mg; Chlorsulon 100 mg
Excipients (glycerol formal; propylene glycol) up to 1 ml
Avermectin is macrocyclic lactone antibiotic, obtained through the fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis. The product acts on nervous system of roundworms and arthropods, causing their paralysis and death by stimulating the production of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) at synapses, which interrupts the transmission of nerve inflow. Since the avermectines have no action on acetylcholine production, the main chemical mediator of nervous inflow in mammals, the toxicity of the product is relatively low.
Chlorsulon interrupts the metabolic activity of flukes, especially of Fasciola and inhibits the enzymes with essential activity in the production of energy.
In control of endo- and ectoparasites in cattle, as follows: Fasciola hepatica (adult form), Ostertagia, Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Oesophagostomum, Strongyloides, Dictyocaulus, Thelasia, Hipoderma, Sarcoptes, Psoroptes, Chorioptes, Haematopinus, Linognathus, Solenopotes, Ornithodores, Boophilus etc.
Do not use in severe kidney or liver failures.
Do not administer intramuscularly or intravenously.
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or any excipient.
Local transient reactions are possible: a small swelling at the inoculation site and rarely pain.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The product is injected subcutaneously on the neck side, in dose of 1 ml/50 kg body weight. A second inoculation is recommended for scabies treatment within 7 – 8 days.
Simultaneously with general treatment, the disinfection of shelters and equipment should be carried out; in case of fasciolosis the contaminant sources as pasture or contaminated hay should be eliminated.
In order to avoid the accidents, namely the break of esophagus induced by Hypoderma lineatum larva and paralysis produced by Hypoderma bovis larva found in vertebral canal, the cattle should be treated, either before or after the development of these larval stages. Avoid the following actions since they increase the risk of resistance occurrence and thus treatment could be ineffective:
- long-term frequent and repeated use of same class antiparasitics;
underdosage as a result of inaccurate determination of body weight.
Do not use in lactating animals producing milk for human consumption.
Meat: 28 days
Bottles of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 ml.
