ROMOXIBENDAZOL 15 %
Broad spectrum antihelminthic
1 g Romoxibendazol 15% contains:
Active substance: Oxibendazole 150mg;
Excipients (calcium carbonate, soybean cake) ad 1 g
Oxibedazole belongs to benzimidazole compounds with broad spectrum antihelminthic action.
It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration and distributed in all organs and tissues, causing the lysis of the endoparasites, regardless of their location (digestive or respiratory tract, other tissues).
Oxibendazole is active against roundworms (including Trichinella spp) and tapeworms (larva and adults). Toxicity of the product is relatively low. The recommended doses have no teratogenic or embryotoxic effect.
Romoxibendazol is recommended for control of helminthes and endoparasites in swine caused by: Ascaris suum, Trichocephalus suis, Metastrongylus elongatus, Metastrongylus salmi, Metastrongylus pudendotectus, Strogyloides ransomi, Trichinella spiralis (adult intestinal and migrating larva forms), Maracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus, Cysticercuscellulosae.
In heavily parasitized animals, allergic reactions may appear even causing death of the animal, due to massive killing of parasites releasing allergens into the bloodstream.
Sometimes intestinal occlusions may occur.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Romoxibendazol 15% is incorporated into the dry fodder and administered orally, as follows:
- as sole administration : 1 g Romoxibendazol 15%/10 kg body weight/day (15 mg a.s./ kg body weight/day)
- daily administration for 10 days: 2.66 g Romoxibendazol 15%/10 kg of fodder /day (40 mg a.s./10 kg fodder/day)
The treatment should be applied quarterly in order to avoid accidents due to massive parasite infection of the animals.
Assess correctly the animal’s body weight in order to avoid under- and overdoses.
The product should be well homogenized into the fodder before use. Mix the calculated amount of medication with an amount of feed to be entirely eaten by animals and then provide non medicated feed. Thus, parasite resistance against the active substance and treatment inefficacy will be avoided.
Comply with the recommended doses.
