Freeze-dried hyper immune serum against Carre’s disease in dogs
Salvacan – D is a purified, freeze-dried concentrated canine immunoglobulin, with anti-distemper antibody titer ≥1/320 VNA, together with diluents.
Salvacan – D is used for prevention in immunodeficient animals and for treatment in dogs which show clinical symptoms of CARRE’s disease.
There are no major contraindications; carefully follow the specific recommendations on the use of biological products and basic good veterinary practice rules.
Salvacan – D is well tolerated by animals. Seldom, in some animals, allergic reactions may occur, which should be treated with symptomatic medication or antihistamines (dexametarom).
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Administer by intramuscular route after disinfection of the elective skin with a swab soaked in antiseptic solution, such as sanitary alcohol.
– preventive: the recommended dose is 1-3 ml depending on size, inoculate by intramuscular route.
– treatment: 3 vials (3 ml) on the first day, followed by 2 vials (2 ml) on the second day and 1 vial (1 ml) on the third day, by intravenous route and then 1 vial (1 ml) for another 3-4 days by intramuscular route. 1 ml per os is recommended on the first day. In severe cases, the entire treatment should be by i.v. route and administer 3 vials (3 ml) on the first 3 days.
