Solution for injection
Tranquilizer, sedative, neuromuscular relaxant
Active substance: Acepromazine maleate 10 mg;
Excipient (distilled water) up to 1 ml
Acepromazine belongs to the phenothiazine substances and has sedative and myorelaxant effects reducing the irritability and hyper excitability of the central nervous system. It enhances the effect of local hypnotics and anesthetics; it has hypothermic, hypotensive, antihistaminic and antiemetic effects.
Dogs and cats
- Sedation (clinical examination, local treatments and transport);
- In pre-anesthesia;
- Neuromuscular relaxation.
Do not use in case of hypothermia, cardiopathy
Do not use in hypersensitivity to active substance
Sometimes, after repeated administrations, pigmentation of the skin may occur.
The overdose may cause cardio-respiratory arrest.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Inject intramuscularly (i.m), intravenously (i.v) or subcutaneously, as follows:
- Dogs: – i.v.: 0.5 ml/10 kg of body weight
– i.m. or s.c.: 0.5 – 1 ml/ 10 kg of body weight
- Cats: – i.m. or s.c.: 0.1 ml/1 kg of body weight
The i.v. administration should be carried out very slowly
Protect the tranquilized animal from noise, sun, cold and air draughts.
Assess correctly the animal¢s weight, in order to avoid the over- and under dosage.
Do not feed or water the animal until complete awakening to avoid the risk of choking.
Vials with 10, 20, 50 and 100 ml.
